College of Resources and Environmental Science
The College offers four undergraduate programs (Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, and Resource and Environmental Science). Major Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering was selected as a strategic new-type (pillar) industrial talent training program for ordinary colleges and universities in Hubei Province. The College provides a master's program in Environmental Chemistry, a professional master's program in Environmental Engineering, and Chemical Engineering (Environmental Chemistry). At present, the college has 45 teaching staff and 36 full-time teachers, among which there are 6 professors and 9 associate professors, including 1 member of the National Heavy Metal Pollution Control Committee, 1 Chairman of Hubei Province Environmental Chemistry Society and 3 obtainer of Programs for New Century Excellent Talents in University new talents from the Ministry of Education.
The college attaches great importance to teaching and scientific researches. The College has 7,000 square meters of comprehensive laboratory building, including 18 professional teaching laboratories, among which there are Environmental Monitoring Laboratories, Hydraulics Laboratories, Environmental Engineering Laboratories, Virtual Simulation Laboratories, and an additional 400 square meters of Analysis and Testing Center, 1 Weather Station in school. There are 6 existing research groups, namely Professor Tang Heqing group (main research direction: environmental materials and environmental control chemistry), Professor Du Dongyun group (main research direction: heavy metal pollution prevention and control project), Professor Sun Jie group (main research direction: water treatment and soil remediation), Professor Cui Longzhe group (main research direction: Environment monitoring and VOCs pollution control), Resource and Environmental Science research group (main research direction: Resource planning and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources) and Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering research group (main research direction: water resource and water environment).
The college has established long-term cooperation in scientific research and practical teaching with Guangxi CITIC Dameng Mining Industry Co., Ltd., Wuhan Iron and Steel Group, Yangtze River Three Gorges Group, Wuhan Water Group, and many environmental protection agencies of cities and counties. In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 80 scientific research projects, including one national science and technology support plan, one subproject of the Ministry of Science and Technology's 863 plan, and 17 national natural science funds, with a total funding of more than 40 million yuan. The College’s affiliated platform "Hubei Heavy Metal Pollution Control Engineering Technology Center" was rated as excellent in 2014 by the Hubei Science and Technology Department. The "Key Laboratories for the Utilization of Carbon Wastes" was approved in 2016 for the establishment of a National Recycling Economy Engineering Laboratory. In 2016, the college successfully hosted the 16th World Conference on Catalysis (International Symposium on Environmental Catalysis) and the 11th Cross-Strait Catalysis Conference. In 2017, our college together with Tsinghua University School of the Environment and the Environment and the State Key Joint Laboratory for Simulation and Pollution Control co-hosted the 2017 Forum for Persistent Organic Pollutants and the Twelfth Persistent Organic Pollutants Symposium (pops2017), which was well received by the industry. The related disciplines of resources and environment in our college have already had a certain influence in the country. In particularly, the relevant research in the field of industrial wastewater treatment and environmental catalysis has reached the domestic advanced level.
The college has a strong culture of learning, a rich and colorful extracurricular life. The students have solid professional knowledge, strong innovative ability, and high overall quality. Graduate entrance examination rate is nearly 30%. The employment rate and the quality of employment have been continuously improved. The quality of students' training has been well received by the employers and has gained good social reputation.
The College has conducted extensive exchanges with University of Wisconsin and University of California, British University of Bristol, Tsukuba University, Korea Jeonbuk University and Chungnam University, University of Pahang in Malaysia in personnel training and scientific research.

at Hiroshima University in Japan and a professor at Huazhong University of
Science and Technology. He is currently the director of Hubei Provincial
Committee of Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He presided and completed
a key project of the Scientific Research Starting Foundation for Returned Overseas
Chellonese Scholars, Ministry of Education, 3 projects of the National Natural
Science Foundation of China and more than 20 scientific and technological
projects supported by the enterprises. He participated in one of the key
projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and one major
Professor (secondary), Ph.D., PhD supervisor. A young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Hubei Province, a responsible person for the school's “Environmental Engineering” brand specialty construction, a member of the Heavy Metal Pollution Control Committee of the China Environmental Protection Society, and director of the Hubei Heavy Metal Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Engineering Center. As the project leader, he has completed 8 provincial and ministerial-level projects and more than 20 projects commissioned by the company. He is currently presiding over 1 project of the National Science and Technology Support Program. The research direction is pollution control chemistry and resource utilization of carbon-containing wastes. He is mainly engaged in the research and treatment of arsenic-containing wastewater, arsenic and manganese-containing waste residues in the sulfuric acid, metallurgy and fertilizer industries, and actively develops biological automatic control technologies and related equipment. He has published more than 80 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, received more than 20 articles by SCI and EI, obtained 5 authorized invention patents, received 3 third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Hubei, and 1 second prize for environmental science and technology progress of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
Professor, Ph.D., and new century talents from the Ministry of Education. The main research areas are water pollution control engineering and environmental catalysis. He has presided over 2 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a subproject of the National Science and Technology Support Project, and more than 10 scientific and technological projects such as the Outstanding Youth Fund of Hubei Province, the scientific and technological breakthroughs of Wuhan City, and corporate commissioning. He was awarded the second prize for scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the third prize for scientific and technological progress in Hubei Province. He has published more than 30 papers in SCI and has been granted 5 invention patents. Focusing on the combination of production and learning, the new technology of catalytic H2O2/O3 oxidation and membrane treatment has achieved lots of engineering applications in the field of industrial wastewater treatment. He has been selected into the Hubei Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund and the Ministry of Education's “New Century Talent Support Program” and other talent projects.
Professor, Ph.D., the member of the Photocatalysis Professional Committee of the Chinese Photographic Society, and editorial board member of the 《Chinese Journal of Catalysis》. His research interests include photocatalysis, pollution control chemistry, and nano-environmental catalytic materials. He is a postdoctoral researcher of National Key Laboratory of New Materials Technology in Wuhan University of Technology, visiting scholar of University of Bristol in UK, and a senior visiting scholar in Department of Science and Environment, Hong Kong University of Education. He has chaired 3 National Natural Science Funds (Surface Projects) and was selected as the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Education and the National Youth Committee’s “Young and Young Talents Training Program”. He also got the special grants from China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and the found for outstanding young people from Hubei Province. He has published more than 70 papers (cited more than 2,250 times) in SCI, and has been granted 3 patents (first inventor).
Professor, PhD, major research areas include environmental adsorption materials, advanced oxidation and environmental monitoring. He served in Yanbian Prefecture Environmental Science Research Institute and Yanbian Prefecture Environmental Protection Bureau. Presided over the completion of the Ministry of Education's returning to China to start a fund project, one Sino-Korea cooperation project of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, participated in one National Environmental Protection Public Welfare Project, two National Natural Science Fund Projects and more than 20 corporate commissioned projects, and presided over the compilation of a "Contaminated Soil Remediation Technology and Application" textbook, published more than 20 SCI papers and obtained one authorized invention patent.
Professor, Ph.D. He has been selected into the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” of the Ministry of Education. He has supported the completion of 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 project of the New Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, 1 project of Hubei Outstanding Youth Fund and 4 projects of other provincial and ministerial levels. And he has participated in the national "973" pre-research project, the "12th Five-Year Plan" national science and technology support plan project and the Ministry of Education " Yangtze River Scholars and Innovation Team Development Plan" innovation team. He has received 1 first prize of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, 3 second prizes for scientific and technological progress in Hubei Province, and published more than 60 academic papers, of which 38 papers were included in SCI / EI, and 2 of them were selected as “Leader 5000-China Top Quality Academic Journal Top Academic Papers (F5000)”, 13 authorized invention patents.
Academic exchange activities
1.Hosted the International Symposium on Environmental Catalysis (2016) and exchanged views with representatives from the United States, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Ireland and France on photo (electro) catalytic water treatment, recycling of waste plastics, and removal of VOCs.
2.Hosted the 11th Cross-Strait Catalysis Conference (2016), and exchanged views on catalytic frontiers such as room temperature catalysis and catalyst structure-activity relationship with representatives from Taiwan universities, Donghua University and other Taiwan universities and research institutes.

Relying on the Hubei Province Heavy Metals Wastewater Treatment and Conference Engineering Research Center, Hubei University Industrial Park “Energy Environmental Research Institute,” and the Carbon Group Waste Resource Utilization and Utilization Key Lab, etc., it actively develops social services and strengthens cooperation between production, teaching and research.
