Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 96: Detection and Control Technology of Volatile Organic Compounds in Passenger Cars

Linxin Gao, senior engineer at Wuhan Shenlong Automobile Inc., was invited to deliver a talk titled ‘Detection and Control Technology of Volatile Organic Compounds in Passenger Cars’ at Classroom 11201 on Apr. 9th, 2018. The audience were mainly graudate students of 2017 majoring Chemical Engineering. It was hosted by Professor Shiwei Jin.

Ms. Gao introduced (1) background of industry of in-car air quality control; (2) sources of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in vehicles; (3) detection of VOC; (4) examples ways of VOC control in vehicle, and (5) future trend of the development of automobile industry.

Linxin Gao, senior engineer at Wuhan Shenlong Automobile Inc., obtained her master's degree in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering, Zhejiang University in 2014, when she started her career at Shenlong. She is in charge of (1) accreditation and verification of development of nonmetallic materials; (2) establishment and improvement of standard system for VOC, odor, atomization, ELV and other related properties; (3) auditing of certification technology of vehicle green standard and C-ECAP, and etc.. Besides, She participated (1) VOC & odor control for vehicles and parts in the developmental phase of vehicle models; (2) cost reduction and development of low-odor and low-VOC materials for Teana, 4008 and 5008 models; (3) emission control of non-fuel system according to GB 18352.6-2016 for C6 and 4008 models. Furthermore, she independently completed compilation of 8 company-level standard processes, and 2 enterprise-level standard processes.
