Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 79: The application of porous metalazol porous materials in selective adsorption and separation

Dr. Xiaoming Chen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor at Zhongshan University, gave a talk titled ‘The application of porous metalazol porous materials in selective adsorption and separation’ on Oct. 26th, 2017. It was hosted by Prof. JInlin Li, president of South-Central University for Nationalities.

Dr. Chen introduced his group’s research progress in synthesis of metal organic framework material (MOF) and its application in selective adsorption and separation of small molecules. In order to improve the efficiency of selective adsorption and separation of small molecules of gas, his group synthesized a series of new metal poly azoled porous material that showed better selective adsorption and separation. The talk was warmly welcomed by audience, resulting in active discussion. After the talk, president Li showed him our Key Laboratory of Catalytic Materials Science of National People's Committee and the Ministry of Education.

Dr. Xiaoming Chen earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Zhongshan University in 1983 and 1986, respectively. He obtained Ph. D. degree from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1992. He’s worked at School of Chemistry, Zhongshan University since 1992. He became an associate professor and full one in 1993 and 1995, respectively. He was financed by the National Outstanding Youth Fund in 1996. In 1999 he won the title of the Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River scholar, Ministry of Education. And then he was honored academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. In 2013 he was selected as Academician of the Developing Country Academy of Sciences. He was the director of Key Laboratory of Bioinorganic and synthetic chemistry, Ministry of Education, head of the School of Chemistry, deputy director of the Chinese Crystal Society, the standing committee and deputy director of the Ministry of chemistry of the CAS and so on. He works on functional coordination chemistry and crystal engineering research. His focus in on design and synthesis of functional Coordination compound. She has more than 400 publications in Science, JACS, Angew. Chem., Nature Commun., Adv. Mater., Acc. Chem. Res., Chem. Rev., Chem. Soc. Rev. and so on, which were cited for more than 30,000 times with H factor 93. He won second-grade prize of National Natural Science Award in 2007, TWAS Chemistry Award in 2012 and Thomson Reuters High referenced Scholar Award from 2014 to 2016.
