Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 80: Advanced Materials for Metal Ion Batteries

Dr. Zaiping Guo, professor at University of Wollongong, Australia, gave a talk titled ‘Advanced Materials for Metal Ion Batteries’ on Oct. 19th, 2017. It was hosted by Prof. Juncheng Hu.

Prof. Guo introduced her group’s research progress in energy storage and transformation. She started with application of electric cars, introduced the areas to be improved in practice, then synthesis and optimization of electrode materials, and application of silicon carbon negative electrode in lithium ion battery. The talk was warmly welcomed by audience, resulting in active discussion. After the presentation, prof. Guo had an informal discussion of new-energy cars, optimization of electrode materials, and visiting and exchange abroad with young researchers from College of Chemistry and Materials Science.

Prof. Guo works on scientific research and industrialization application of new energy materials for about 20 years. She focuses on Ion battery, supercapacitor, hydrogen storage and fuel cell. She won ARC QEII Fellow, Future Fellowship, FT3, Australia. She earned financial support for more than 25 business projects. She has more than 300 publications in JACS, AngewAdv. Mater., Energy & Environmental Science, Nano Lett. ACS Nano and etc, which were cited for more than 13000 times with H factor 63. She is a reviewers and arbitrators for Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Comm., JACS, Angew, Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy & Environmental Science, Nano Letters. She is a deputy chief editor of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.
