Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 85: An Electrocatalytic Membrane Reactor(ECMR) for Wastewater Treatment

Dr. Jianxin Li, professor at Tianjin University of Technology, was invited to give a talk titled ‘An Electrocatalytic Membrane Reactor(ECMR) for Wastewater Treatment’ on Dec. 18, 2017. It was hosted by Prof. Aiqing Zhang, the head of College of Chemistry and Materials Science.

Prof. Li first introduced his group’s research, then the importance of water treatment for environment protection and social development, and the latest advances in the application of high polymer/carbon /TiO2 hollow fiber membrane and electrocatalytic membrane reactor to waste water treatment. The talk was warmly welcomed by audience, resulting in active discussion.

Prof. Jianxin Li, born in 1966, the Distinguished Professor of Tianjin city, professor at Tianjin University of Technology, Dean of National Center for International Cooperation Research on Membrane Science and Technology, Leader of the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, member of The National Key Talent Project, The Hundred People Plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese textile academic leader, and 131 Innovation Team in Tianjin. He worked at Hubei Institute of Chemical Research from 1988 to 1999; obtained Ph.D degree at University of Stellenbosch in South Africa in 2002, worked as a postdoc at Colorado University in USA from 2002 to 2004, was a visiting professor at Ohio State University from 2015 to 2016. He is on editorial board of Journal of Water Sustainability, in addition to Membrane Science and Technology. His research interest is on Green catalysis and membrane separation. He published over 150 research papers at Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., ACS Nano, J. Membrane Sci. and so on. He wrote 4 books/chapters in English. He had 25 patents, including two international PCT patents. He won second-class prize of National Technical Inventions, first prize of China Textile Industry Association, second-class prize of Scientific and Technological Progress in Tianjin.
