Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 88: Regulation of chain topology to the structure and properties of polymer nanocomposite system

Dr. Hua Zhang, a professor at Nanyang Technology University in Singapore, was invited to give a talk on crystal phase-engineering of nanomaterials on Dec. 27, 2017. It was hosted by Professor Chunya Li.

Dr. Zhang introduced the research achievements his group had these years on functionalization, characterization and application of nanomaterials, including the synthesis and application of carbon materials, ultra-thin noble metal nanomaterials, transitional metal disulfur compounds, and epitaxial growth of heterojunction so on. He emphasized the preparation and application of crystal phase control of new noble metal nanomaterials.

Professor Hua Zhang obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at Nanjing University, then his Ph.D degree at Beijing University in 1995. He worked as a postdoctor at University of Louvain in Belgium and then at Northwestern University in USA. Now he is a professor at School of Materials Science & Engineering of Nanyang Technology University. He studies Crystalline phase engineering of nanomaterials, including preparation and their application of two dimensional nanomaterials and carbon materials to biosensor and clean energy. He published over 420 research papers at Science, Nat. Chem., Nat. Rev. Mater., Nat. Commun., Chem. Rev, Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater. and so on.Among those publications, 176 had influence factor over 10 and citation was over 42,200. He is on editorial board of Interfaces, Nanoscale, Carbon and so on. He was selected as Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2014 and a member of APAM-Asian Pacific Academy of Materials in 2015. He won ACS Nano Lectureship in 2015, WCC special honorship in 2013, the ONASSIA Foundation Lectureship in Greece in 2013, Asian Rising Stars at 15th Asian Chemical Congress in 2013, SMALL Youth Innovation Award by Wiley-VCH in 2012 and Nanyang Outingstang Research Award in 2011.
