Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 89: Regulation of chain topology to the structure and properties of Polymer nanocomposite system

Dr. Tao Tang, a research professor at Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to give a talk on regulation of Chain topology to the structure and properties of polymer nanocomposite system on Jan. 12, 2018. It was hosted by Professor Daohong Zhang.

Dr. Tang introduced the basic problems and research proceedings of polymer nanocomposites, especially the effects of chain topology on the structure and properties of polymer nanocomposite system when molecular chain topology of polymer matrix changed from linear into nonlinear structure. The talk covered (1) effect of long chain branching on the melt behavior of polymer/nanoparticle system, (2) the influence of molecular chain topology on regulation of dispersion behavior of nanoparticles in polymer composite system (3) the effect of long chain branching structure on the foaming behavior of polymer composite system. The talk was warmly welcomed by audience, resulting in active discussion.

Dr. Tao Tang, a research professor, earned National Natural Science Outstanding Youth Fund in 2005, was admitted to the Chinese Academy of Sciences Outstanding ‘Hundred Talents Program’ in 2010. He is a committee member of Chinese Society for Composite Materials. His work focuses on regulation of chain topology to the structure and properties of polymer nanocomposite system, interfacial and microstructural regulation of polymer multiphase and multicomponent materials, in addition to polymer degradation transformation and recycle. He published over 230 research papers at Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.Macromolecules, Chem. Commun.J. Mater. Chem.Soft Matter.Polymer and so on. He co-authored 4 books. He had one USA patent of invention, 32 patents of invention in China. He had two polymer foaming techniques transformed in industry.
