Chemistry & Materials Forum No. 95: Single cell real-time dynamic monitoring

Prof. Weihua Huang from College of Chemistry and Molecular Science, Wuhan University, was invited to deliver the talk, ‘Single cell real-time dynamic monitoring’, at Classroom 11201 on Mar. 22th, 2018. It was hosted by Professor Shiwei Jin.

Prof. Weihua Huang is a Luojia Distinguished Professor, winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Fund. He works on Single cell analysis, bioelectricity analysis chemistry and microfluidic chip. He presided seven National Natural Science Foundation Projects, and participated innovation research group of National Natural Science Foundation of China and 973 National Scientific Research Projects. He published more than 80 research papers in JACS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., ACS Nano, Chem. Sci., Anal. Chem. and so on. He authored one book. He won the first prize of Natural Science in Hubei province (second person in charge) in 2004 and the first Wuhan Youth Prize for Science and Technology in 2008. In 2009, he was selected as the New Century Excellent Talent Support Plan by the Ministry of education. He was supported by the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund in 2017.

Dr. Huang introduced the research achievements of his group on single cell real-time dynamic monitoring, including (1) research on cells and nanoscale probe to monitor the cell in real time, (2) summary of high sensitivity electrochemical sensors, (3) a new idea raised of light cleaning for electrochemical sensors based on the principle of photocatalytic degradation, (4) establishment of an elastic stretchable electrochemical sensor for in situ monitoring of deformed cells, giving a new approach to the study of cellular mechanical signal transduction, (5) establishment of a real-time detection method for nano electrode subcellular, improving the level of cognition of synaptic vesicle exocytosis and release. The talk was warmly welcomed by audience, resulting in active discussion.
